Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of whimblet. By creating a game, joining one, or otherwise using the site, you agree to them. This is a template written for a small, actively-developed app — please review it (ideally with a lawyer) and fill in the placeholders before relying on it for real-world use.

What whimblet is

whimblet lets a host create a photo scavenger hunt, invite others to join via a shareable link, collect photo submissions from teams, and present the results once the hunt ends. It's an actively developed, small-scale project — not a guaranteed, always-on commercial service.

Acceptable use

You agree not to use whimblet to:

• Upload or share illegal, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, or infringing content.
• Upload photos of anyone without the right or consent to do so.
• Attempt to disrupt, overload, or gain unauthorized access to the service.
• Use the service for anything other than personal, non-commercial photo scavenger hunts, unless we've agreed otherwise.

Game hosts are responsible for the content of their own games and for the conduct of the people they invite.

Your content

You retain ownership of any photos and text you submit. By submitting them, you grant us a license to store, display, and process that content as needed to run the game and presentation features. We may remove content or games that violate these terms.

No warranty

whimblet is provided "as is," without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that your data will never be lost — as a small, evolving project, treat anything important as something you've also kept a copy of elsewhere.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, whimblet and its operator aren't liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service.

Termination

We may suspend or remove access to games or accounts that violate these terms, or that we reasonably believe pose a risk to other users or the service.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the app changes. Material changes will be reflected by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to its conflict of laws principles.
